Tummy tuck abroad
Abdominoplasty (otherwise known as the tummy tuck) is a cosmetic surgery procedure for women and men mainly aims at correcting any sagging in the region of the mid and lower abdomen. At the same time, however, fat is removed from the front and side of the abdomen, while the abdominal walls are narrowed and strengthened.
Usually, the use of abdominoplasty is recommended when dealing with major sagging in the abdominal skin following pregnancy or extensive weight loss.
Depending on the problem, there are several types of abdominoplasty that could be done:
- Full Abdominoplasty (Standard Full Tummy Tuck)
- Mini Abdominoplasty (Mini Tummy Tuck)
- Extended Abdominoplasty (Extended Tummy Tuck)
- LipoAbdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck with Liposuction).
HOW ABDOMINOPLASTY IS PERFORMED
The procedure requires the removal of all skin and fat located beneath the navel. Skin and fat are detached from the muscles of the abdomen. The navel is removed to a its new position. The skin is stretched and the excess of skin is removed. The abdominal muscles are strength along the waist.
The scars left by abdominoplasty improve over time. Of course, they never truly vanish, but tend to be located in the area that is generally covered by underwear or swimwear. Some patients “cover” the scar by a tattoo.
After Tummy Tuck
The patient is usually required to remain at the clinic/hospital for approximately 24 hours.
Early follow-up visits at doctor’s clinic should follow the next 10 days. The use of a corset, which will exert a certain amount of pressure on the abdominal walls, is required for one month after the operation.
RESULTS OF ABDOMINOPLASTY
Results can last for several years, provided the patient does not put on much more weight or experience pregnancy. The results of abdominoplasty are impressive and surveys show that the 97% of the patients, undergoing an abdominoplasty, are satisfied by the result and they said “It’s worth it”.
