Buttock augmentation with fat transfer
Buttock augmentation with fat transfer, also known as Brazilian Butt Lift or BBL, is a plastic surgery procedure in which we combine 2 procedures (liposuction and buttock augmentation) in one. It is done by taking fat cells from body areas with unwanted fat volume (usually the abdomen, flanks, hips, back or thighs) and transferring them to the buttocks. A gentle suction is occurred following by a special fat-cells treatment. The injection of the fat tissue is followed into the muscle layers of the buttocks, providing the wanted volume and shape to the buttocks.
The BBL produces results that look very natural and without the use of any implant.
The big advantage of the Brazilian Butt Lift is that two plastic surgical operations may be performed at the same time (as while the buttocks are being augmented, unwanted fat may be removed from other parts of the body). The main disadvantage of this method is that the patient must possess a certain amount of fat for the surgeon to harvest. The buttock augmentation with fat transfer usually requires an amount of pure fat of about 350 cc (cubic centimeters) on average for each side (about 700 cc for both sides). Sometimes more than one fat transfer procedure is required to achieve the best aesthetic result because a certain amount of fat cells are reabsorbed by the body. That’s why plastic surgeons overfill the selected area.
After the Brazilian Butt Lift, the patient must wear a special garment for about 6 weeks. Patients can return to almost normal daily activity in about one week, but it may be several weeks before strenuous exercise can be resumed.
